SHREK

8/21/08: Shrek comes to us as an owner surrender. He was surrendered for his own safety because the neighbor had threatened to kill him. Poor boy! He doesn't understand why he had to leave his family, but he is adjusting very well to his new foster home and their dogs. Shrek is excellent with other dogs and even likes cats. His previous owner says he is a houdini because he can get out of any collar used on him. That's why she kept a harness on him. We use Martingale collars so he will be safe.

Shrek is fullly vetted and on heartworm preventive and he had his eyes fixed in 2005. So, he's ready for his new home.

We'd really like to place him in a home with other dogs because he would be very lonely without at least one. In his foster home, he has taken Cookie as his girlfriend and they play and play and play - sometimes to the point of exhaustion, at least for one foster mom!

9/7/08: from Shrek's foster mom . . . Shrek, is a wonderfully handsome boy from Rome, Georgia. His owners were heart broken to turn him over to rescue, but felt it was the right thing to do in order to provide him with a better environment.

Shrek is a very loving and playful pet. He will swat you with his paw to let you know how happy he is and will growl and purr to let you understand how good it feels when you rub his belly. He doesn’t want to be the leader of the pack, just the most popular boy. Yes, he’s quite the ladies man. But, after 9pm, he’s retired for the evening and refuses to socialize with man, or beast.

10/19/08: Shrek also had an entry on the Wall of Rescues even though he's still in foster care. He sure is a handsome boy! And he really needs his forever home.

Shrek has had a bout of Shar Pei fever since being in foster care, so that will need to be a consideration for the family who wants to adopt him. If you don't know about this medical problem, go to Dr. Jeff Vidt's website to read about it. Click here.

11/9/08: Tonight The Shrek is in his new home in Maryville TN. He has a new brother and sister, Frostee and Cici. He also has three human sisters who will love him as much as they love their other two peibies. We're very grateful to the Sinclairs for giving Shrek a chance. Even though he suffers from Shar Pei fever, they still wanted him. That's what it's really all about.

Doesn't he look great? 8/2/09

1/17/2011: I am very sad to write that Shrek passed away suddenly last week. He got very sick very suddenly. RIP, Shrek. You were a good boy.
