SCOOBY

10/10/07: This cute little boy is Scooby. He is a small pei, only 37 lbs. Scooby is a fawn brushcoat and about three years old. He is neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm preventive. He needs a little work on his manners, ie, walking on a lead (he freezes and won't move when you place it on him), coming when called, etc. so his foster mom is working on that. He's really a very nice dog and when his socializing is completed, he will make a great pet. We don't believe he's been kept in a house at all. Scooby was leery about stepping up to get into the kennel, but when shown, he picked it right up.
Scooby is eating like a horse and took his first treat tonight. So, all in all, he's coming along much better than we thought he would. It will take a little time, but we believe he's capable and willing. Hopefully, by the time he leaves here, he'll have put on some weight and have good manners. We really like him. Don't know at this point how he is with children, puppies and cats.
11/7/07: Scooby is doing fine. He's still pretty "energetic" and he eats like it won't be there when he turns around. He is putting on a little weight and he loves his bed. In fact, after his breakfast he brings it outside in his run and lays on it all day. He's definitely a character but still needs some work on his energy. He and PT play together from time to time but PT gets tired of running with him. PT is pretty energetic herself but Scooby can out-run her any day!! He just doesn't want to slow down and has a hard time when I try to pet him. He jumps up on me and is so excited when I pet him. He's really a sweet dog but still needs a little more work.
1/20/08: Scooby is having some medical issues that we are tending to, so he won't be available for adoption until we're able to get him well.
2/2/08: Today is a great day! Scooby has a clean bill of health and for that we are thankful. Scooby is a very friendly guy, with a ton of energy. He would be a good fit for an active family or a runner. He's great in the car and he's a perfect boy at the vet. He likes to get clothes out of the clothes hamper and run out the pet door with them. Silly boy!
If you think Scooby would fit well into your home, please fill out the application.
2/22/08: The Scoob is on his way to his new home in South Carolina. He will have a playmate, in addition to his new mom, dad and sister, Bailey. We're sure Scooby will be very happy.

2/23/08: will send pictures soon - I just haven't had a chance to take any. Not that I can't - just that the two dogs are moving so fast, I don't think my camera can capture them. They're getting along really well - and playing like two puppies from the same litter. They've known each other less than 48 hours, but they're getting along really well. No one has come out "dominant" yet, so I'm sure there's some power play going on in the subtext, but it's very understated. I do promise to get some pictures soon!! I'll snap some of Bailey and Scooby, too. Scooby has bonded faster to me and Boots than to Chris and Bailey (of course we had the additional car time, and I sensed he was pretty close to you, so that may be an easier bond for him). He is totally easy-going with Bailey, and he enjoys playing with Chris (mouthing him and jumping on him). He likes to bark at the cat, and she hasn't decided whether or not to like him yet. She hasn't popped him yet, so that's a good sign for him! :) All in all, he's settling in just fine, and we love him as part of the family. We're really very happy to have him. Kathi
Boots and Scooby - what a pair!
2/24/08: Not the best quality this time around, and I promise better ones. I guess you'll recognize Scooby ;). They look like they've known each other for some time, huh? I'll get Bailey in the mix soon. We've had some family events this weekend, so when we're home, she's been asleep a lot. However, when she's awake, she gets along with Scooby really well, and she wants him around her all the time. Kathi
7/28/08: Cindy, Thank you for keeping
me on your list and forwarding me information. I am sorry
I haven't been in touch with a recent update, but all is well
here. Scooby is a family member, and he is a character.
We all love him to death - especially our other dog, Boots.
I swear, if they looked alike, they could have been littermates.
They love each other!
Hope all is well there. Kathi
6/24/09: We learned today that Scooby passed
away last Friday night. We knew he was sick and the veterinarian
was having a hard time deciding what the problem was. He died
of renal failure that came on very suddenly. Kathi and her family
are heartbroken. He was one of the family and they will miss him
very much.
