GINGER

9/9/06: This sweet girl is in her new home in Tucker GA. Cynthia and Hans fell in love with her immediately - and who wouldn't. Crickett's new name is Ginger. She is adjusting very well to her new home, and to Junior and Sassy, her new brother and sister. She and Sassy are especially close.

Ginger and Sassy play hard and rest well. Isn't this a sweet picture!

Thanks, Hans and Cynthia, for giving Ginger a wonderful new home.

Queen Ginger! Do you believe this? She taking the whole Kuranda bed for herself.

This girl has celebrated the new year too early!

This girl is gorgeous!

7/1/07: Hi, Just wanted to share a few pictures of Ginger's 1st Birthday .. Today July 1.  She LOVES her Kuranda bed but the couch is her favorite.  She is very laid back but lately she has been full of spunk ...  She is 50 lbs and is about the same height and length as Jr and Sassie.  She has lot's and lot's of extra skin.  It's hard to say if she'll grow anymore, Jr. didn't stop growing until right around 2, so we'll see.   She is very healthy, her coat is really nice and shiny, her teeth are very healthy but once in a while she does get an ear infections, but nothing ear ointment can't take care of.  She loves, loves, loves males ... Dogs or men ... It is hilarious to watch, her tail starts going to fast at any sight of a male.  Females she can care less about unless it's a dog female...she doesn't particularly care for them ... Only Sassie of course.  She tries to boss Sass around, but Sassie is not having any of it.  She is quite the guard dog, very protective of her home.  She is very sweet and calm.  We all love having her here!

Not sure she's too happy with the choice of birthday goodies!

4/18/09: It is with great pleasure to say that our kids are doing wonderful on their all natural (no preservatives) diets and treats! I also have them on all natural heart worm and flea preventive medication. While I know that most people go for the conventional poison the vets prescribe, (without us realizing how bad it is for them) I am assured by the yearly professional testing on our kids that what we are doing is working great. Unfortunately and perhaps a good thing, it is mandated by the state/government that we give them rabies, I assure that they get the 3 year shot! That is more that they really need.

I am also happy to report that I have finally (through research) found a cure for Ginger's ear infections. I went to 3 different vets and they all told me that she needed to have "Ear canal ablation " All along I knew that it was not the right thing for her because we were not getting down to the core of the problem. I finally found a vet that realized it was a simple ear infection due to allergies, prescribed the correct anibiotics and treated her accordingly. She is now doing wonderful everyday! It took me a while, lot's of $$$ later, almost to the point where I would have had to ask you and your adoptees for help : ) not to mention I had to fight two board certified vets and my husband for her well being! Everyone thought I was CRAZY!.....I know she suffered a bit while I figured out the best coarse of action for her and perhaps wishful thinking on my part ... But all along her best interest was at heart and it finally paid off for her! She is now in the best condition she has ever been. All of that to say, that the holistic approach works best when dealing with both humans and animals well being. I found City Dog Market here in Atlanta, a specialty pet store that carries 60% of the items I purchase for our kids .... And they happen to know Celia and Talia .... : ) TTYL

Here is a web site for what I use for their heart worm and flea preventatives.

From this web site they can research each specific need for their pets! I am also collecting enough data for a book I want to write to educate pet owners, if and when it is published (a few years away I am sure ) 30% of the proceeds will go to your organization/foundation and 30% to the Make a Wish Foundation. So keep us in your prayers! : )

By the way here is a very recent pic of Ginger and her sisters, in order Ginger, Shiloh and Sassie! She Always sleeps or greets you at the door with a toy! :)

Thanks Cindy for all of the great work you do for these animals! You are my inspiration! Cynthia
Look at that face!

7/26/2010: Cindy, I had hoped not to have to do this so soon and it's is with a heavy heart that I write this. Ginger left us at about 2:45 am. She went as peacefully as possible.  The past week she had good and bad days, but she was a strong little 'bear' as Hans called her.

We were able to say goodbye before we went to bed as we knew it would happen. She was wagging her tail until the end.

She was such a wonderful dog, and we are very privilege to have had her in our lives. I will always remember the first day we got her, it was love at first sight!  We will miss her dearly!!  She was a ray of sunshine in our lives.

Cynthia and Hans Foraker

RIP, sweet Ginger.
