Look at this cute baby! Mushka surprised us with 5 puppies a few weeks after we took her into rescue. Obviously Cinder is not purebred, but she is cute.

Cinder and her new family, Lynda and John

UPDATE 12/20/06: Cinder disapeared for about an hour this afternoon and wouldn't come when
called.  Found her in my bed snuggled under the covers, THAT DOG!

UPDATE 12/21/06: She's not ready for an extensive road trip yet!  Remember, she tosses her
cookies about every 60 miles or so.  We don't have to board (thankfully!)
My red headed stepson lives a block away and does dog duty while we're
gone.  We don't have to uproot the dogs; if I had to board them
extensively I probably wouldn't have a dog.  I don't like them to be
confined to a kennel!!!!

She is the smartest dog I've ever had!  Every day she is changing and
learning new stuff.

Lynda is starting to worry that she won't be able to keep up (mentally)
with her...Hehehehehehhe!

Is this not the cutest thing you've ever seen???

Cinder on her Florida vacation

6/9/07: This is John with Cinder's new sister, Rilee. Cute, huh? We mean Rilee, of course. Just kidding, John.

5/22/2010: Last October, John and Lynda Bender's adopted dog Cinder escaped from their fenced yard when the yard man left the gate open. There has not been one sighting of her since that day. John and Lynda have looked everywhere for her. Well, guess what? Just got this note from John:

Well's here's something that you might find a little more amazing.

We went over to Gallatin Country Club for pizza and beer tonite and left about 8:00.  I caught a glimpse of a dog crossing the parking lot in the shadows of the trees.  We went back and found the dog but couldn't get close enough to make out the color or the tail.

Tried to lure the dog in with pizza but no luck.  Called to it and whistled for it but still couldn't get within 50 feet of it.

Finally turned around and started walking back to the car.

The dog ran at me and came right up, wagging her curly tail and licking my hand.

We have Cinder back!  She's dirty and skinny, but seems to be OK otherwise.  Brought her home and she's back in the house w/Rilee, and eating like crazy.

I'll run her over to the vet Monday and  get her shots updated, but I think she's fine, no visible signs of disease or trauma.

Let's see, she ran off last October I think...She must've foraged and spent the winter outside somewhere,  really surprised she's in such good shape.

Looks like we'll have a date for the reunion after all.  Goes w/out saying that Mrs. Bender was in tears and has been sitting with her since we got home.

There's been so much bad news this spring- time for a little good-

John

Cinder was lost for 7 months. It's truly a miracle. What a great way to end the day!
