CHINA

8/13/08: China was a stray who ended up at a rescue-friendly animal shelter in Tennessee .  We arranged her pickup and placed her in foster care.  From when we first interacted with her, she has displayed nothing but her sweet disposition, friendliness and good manners.

She has only been with us for two days, so she is still somewhat aloof, but she readily and happily interacts with all of us, including our two-year-old daughter and our 60-pound rescued Dutch Shepherd.  She generally seems happy about life and wants nothing more than to be with her humans. She is not demanding of attention, but is definitely a "Velcro dog" and wants to be near her people. She hasn't been seeking out physical affection but is already beginning to take more and more interest in petting when it is offered - as if she is realizing, "Hey, this is GREAT!"  She shows no signs whatsoever of aggression towards other socialized dogs or over her food.  She is a little thin, but absolutely loves her food.  She had some stomach issues which cleared up immediately with a change to quality food, plus her stress level is way down now that she is in a home and not a shelter!

China is around 40-45 pounds but could stand to gain a small amount of weight.  She is a beautiful, sweetheart of a dog with a face and eyes that could melt the hardest heart!

China is current on her vaccinations, spayed and on heartworm preventive. She is crate trained and house trained.

She's ready for her new home!

8/21/08: China is thriving in foster care. She is constantly interested in what we
are doing and has become rather affectionate. She is just so happy ALL
the time. She does fine on a leash but does pull a bit. When she knows
it is time to go out (or when she tells us!) she wags her tail furiously
and dances around. She does not jump, and has been a sweetheart to all
visitors. I've noticed that she is gently mouthy when she plays, so we're
working on that, but she is a well-behaved and lovely little lady.

I just can't stress enough how sweet this dog is. She is (and will be) an
excellent family member! Christopher

8/30/08: This pretty girl sure didn't stay with us long. Today China met her new family, Jeff and Sue, and when she gets home she'll meet her new sister, Lotus. China is a great dog and will fit in great with this family. They loved her instantly.

8/30/08: Can you believe how much China looks likes her new sister, Lotus. Amazing!

Can you tell which one is China? She's on the right.
Both are beautiful girls and they wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

7/11/09: Hi Cindy, China and Lotus are best buds. We have found out that China is very much afraid of storms. She seems to be able to tell when rain is coming. Even just wind kicking up before rain will cause her to pace the house. In a thunderstorm she tries to find places to hide under the end tables and in corners. We try to console her, but she just paces. Other than that she is well-behaved, doing fine and loves to go walking. Thanks for being in touch. Jeff and Sue Pentz

7/26/09: Pretty girl!

4/30/2010: China is doing great, climbing into her bed as I write this message.  She is still afraid of thunderstorms and has issues when on her walks with meeting other dogs.  We love her very much because she is so sweet, just wants lovin' and I'm afraid we have spoiled her a bit.  Have a great time at the reunion and if you send out pictures, please include us in your message. Jeff
