6/23/08: Cassie is a cute little sable brushcoat. She's young, probably between 1-2 years. She loves people and gets along very well with other dogs. Cassie was picked up as a stray in Georgia and ended up in a shelter where a very nice man named Myles took really good care of her until we could get her out.
Cassie is house trained, crate trained, fully vaccinated and on heartworm preventive. She is also spayed and microchipped. Cassie will have entropion surgery on Thursday, 6/26. After that she'll be ready for her new home!
7/16/08: Cassie has had her eyes fixed and is ready to go!
7/19/08: Doesn't Cassie look happy with her new mom, Daru? I think they really like each other and Daru kept saying how beautiful Cassie is. And she is!! We know Cassie will have a great life with Daru and her new brother, Buster.
7/21/08: Hi Cindy-Things are going well; Cassie and Buster are getting along fine (playing and lazing around). She’s a sweetie! She seems so much younger to me, but that may be because she’s had so little training. And she really looked tiny when I put her next to Buster. I’ve taken some pictures; I’ll try to send those tonight. But, I couldn’t help but giggle this morning-- even though the bed is off limits-- when she jumped in the bed, laid across me, and licked my face J She’s been very itchy since I picked her up and her little armpits are raw, where she’s scratched. So she’ll be seeing the vet this week.
10/20/08: Hi Cindy-Thanks for checking in.
Sorry, I did get your e-mail last week. However, i was at
the beach and could receive but not reply to mail for some reason.
Cassie is doing GREAT!! She has really settled in here and
loves it I think. She's quit having accidents inside and
isn't jumping on me when I return home every day--which were our
major hurdles. I had a nice vacation, but was glad to get
home to both of them; they were glad too! I'll try to take
some new pictures this evening (home for lunch) to send.
She has put on weight and doesn't eat as ravenously as she did
two months ago...I think she finally realizes that she won't go
hungry here. Her skin has also been fine since the episode
when she first arrived; a couple of Maleseb baths did the trick!
I will send pics tonight hopefully- Daru
Isn't she beautiful?
3/6/2010: Hi Cindy-
Thanks for the reminder, I’m terrible about sitting down to writewhich is why I’m replying fast. Hope all is well with you and your family. Things are great here, we are all just ready for spring!! Cassie is fabulous, a little on the heavy side, but the vet says it’s OK. She’s a very funny girl, has lots of endearing little quirks. But here’s one of the cutest….
The attached picture is of Cassie this morning with her new snuggle babywho we are calling cookie man because he’s shaped like a gingerbread man. I mention him because Cassie (who is hilarious) has been VERY attached to another cloth toy that looks like a big Santa Claus head. She takes him everywherehe’s her security blanket. He goes to bed with her at night, he goes into the living room first thing in the a.m. If we go anywhere overnight he has to come along…you get the idea. Well lately Buster has realized that Santa is Cassie’s Achilles heel. So if he wants to play with or tease her, he gets Santa and a game of tug of war ensues. I started to worry about Santa’s ability to withstand all this and am expecting him to be ripped to shreds any day now. I knew as soon as there was a hole and his stuffing was exposed he was going into the trash and Cassie would not be a happy camper. When I went to Pet Supplies to buy their food last week, I decided I’d better start looking for a “replacement” because you never know what they’ll get attached to (why Santa out of all the stuffed choices in our house?). I bought a bone and the cookie man made of this soft shearling looking material. To my surprise, cookie man was an instant hit! If you look at the attached pic closely, you’ll see Santa in the top left-hand corner--neglected. However, the cookie man is right by her side J
Thanks for all you do for the Pei-babies!!
