10/18/08: We're calling this pretty
cream brushcoat Brandy. She came to us from a shelter in Georgia
where she was picked up as a stray. Brandy is 2-3 years old and
is very well behaved. She is a little timid at first, but warms
up quickly. Brandy gets along with other dogs but she prefers
that they not get in her face just yet. Maybe after she's been
here a few days, she'll know it's okay to play.
Brandy has a sweet personality
and is a quiet girl. She is inquisitive about her surroundings
and settles in to her space very quickly.
Brandy is spayed, vaccinated and
on heartworm preventive. She is house trained and crate trained.
She needs entropion surgery as you can see in the picture below,
so we'll get that scheduled as soon as possible.
Check back to see how Brandy's
doing.

11/14/08: Brandy had her eyes fixed
today and she did great.
11/20/08: From Brandy's foster
mom: Brandy minds, knows sit, down, stay, no, out, come and get
out of my kitchen! She is very adaptable and would fit in easily
in an environment that was consistent with rules and expected
her to mind as well as the home that wants her to curl up on the
couch and sleep in the bed. There have been no accidents, no chewing,
no getting into anything. She is very vocal when she has to go
to the crate. We've limited crating to the times when no one is
home. Otherwise she has the run of the house with the other dogs.
I don't have a cat so I don't know how she would handle co-existing
with a feline sibling. I'll have some family members visiting
to check her with new people but based on her current behavior
I don't expect any problems. She wants to be fed, loved and petted
periodically during the day and allowed to nap, a lot. She has
been very low maintenance. Beth
This girl is so beautiful, especially now that her eyes are fixed
and she doesn't blink all the time!

Here's Brandy with her foster brother, Elvis. Aren't they sweet
together?
Picture perfect!
11/26/08: I wish you could have
seen her yesterday morning. She decided I was her playmate. She
did one of the crouch type poses with her front paws out stretched
and head to the floor with her hindquarters still in the upright
position. So I complied and bent down clapped my hands and she
took off. She circled me, left the room at full speed circled
the dining room table and came back and crouched about 6 feet
in front of me again. This went on for about 6 runs until she
decided to circle me, jump on then off the bed, exit the room
and round the dining room table again. We would have qualified
for America's funniest home videos!
We have noted one habit that could be considered
bad, depending on one's opinion. She likes to wait until you are
asleep to move from her bed on the floor to ours. We are not encouraging
this since we don't know if her forever parents will approve.
And she does get down without protest, once you realize she is
there.
Her stitches are out and she was a real
trooper for the vet. She even waited patiently in a crowded waiting
room with no problems. Just pretty much laid down and watched
everyone, almost with an attitude of "you probably don't
realize I am special." Beth
I'm on my way to my new home!!
Are we there yet???

12/29/08: Today we met Brandy's (now Bella)
new mom in Clarksville. She and her daughter, Lindsay, drove down
from Missouri to pick up Bella. They were in awe of how beautiful
Bella is. They were looking forward to getting back home to introduce
Bella to their other Pei, Bosco. We think it will go well because
Bella is such a laid back girl.
12/29/08: I believe she's smiling!!
Is she really staying here??
Ok, a treat will make it better.
1/9/09 Cindy,
Bosco says, "Thank you very much for my new collar!"
I have to admit the navy blue looks very handsome on him and it
fits great. I guess if I would have ordered it myself, I would
have gotten the wrong size. Bosco and Bella are getting along
better. I let them out in the yard together the next day like
we talked about and everyday since. Bosco is trying to play with
her a little bit. He flops down in his front paws with his but
up in the air trying to get something started. She just stares
at him. He does this inside. But then out side, Bella tries to
get him to run and play and he just watches her. Yesterday she
was running so fast toward him I thought she was going to ram
him and knock him flying. When she got to him, she leaped over
him like he was a hurtle. It left him looking around wondering,
"what just happened?" Again, thanks for the collar.
Janet
1/11/09: Good news from
Jackson MO - Cindy,
I don't know what happened. It was like a light bulb went off
in Bosco's brain. It happened Friday night. Suddenly Bosco realized
Bella was his friend. He can't seem to get enough of her. He is
her shadow--following her everywhere. Friday night he kept initiating
play. He wouldn't stop. I tried to stop him because the two together
being rowdy could destroy my house. I let them outside several
times just to cool things down. I've learned that Bosco is a follower.
He is happy when he has another dog to follow around. (He followed
Buddy like that.) Bella tolerates it and seems to be happy in
her new home. I hope so. She has filled a void in Bosco's life
as of Friday night. Thanks a million for everything. Janet
2/2/09: Cindy, Bella had
her first physical exam with my vet. He proclaimed her very healthy.
I also got a chance to get to Pet Co. and make her an ID tag for
her collar. She and Bosco are best buds. They play a lot--more
than she'd like to sometimes. She'd rather sleep. They sleep on
their pillows side by side. It's kind of cute. Bosco had his eye
surgery, it will be two weeks ago Wednesday. His eyes are better,
but there still seems to be some droop. My vet said he may need
more surgery. We'll have to wait and see. Also we survived the
storm!!! Janet

What a happy family. Bella looks great. She and Bosco are best
buds now.
