BO

His name is Bo! This means "precious" in Chinese (according to the 20,000 names website)and it is also a nice name for a southern gentleman like him! What a handsome devil!

He's acting like a DOG now too...running and playing and being generally happy to be alive. He's a great little guy. Are you the person who can give Bo another shot at having a good life...he sure deserves it, and he's going to be a great family member. Bo needs to work on his leash manners, though, or his new people will have dislocated shoulders! He is STRONG!

Bo's major problem so far is malnutrition. He's getting smaller meals of nutro puppy food 4 times a day right now to get some extra calories in him but not to overwhelm his tummy with too much at once. He's so skinny he doesn't even have wrinkles except on his face.

Bo is heartworm positive. We will be treating him very soon. He will be neutered and have entropion surgery after the heartworm treatment, so Bo won't be ready for adoption for about 2 months or mid-March.

Bo is a fawn horsecoat (the old style Shar Pei). He's house trained and crate trained.

UPDATE 4/9/05: Bo is heartworm free, neutered and has had his eyes fixed. He's ready to go!

UPDATE 5/13/05: Bo jumped right into his crate when it was time to head off to Kingsport. What a good boy! Prior to that we spent several minutes visiting with Bo's new family, which includes a beautiful little black girl named Turffle. Once everyone was comfortable, had gone to the bathroom and gotten a drink of water, it was time to make the long trip back to East Tennessee.

5/14/05: Karen called today to brag on how well behaved Bo is and how great he is with Truffle. They are having a rip roaring time playing and chasing each other.

We are so pleased with Bo's placement. We know he's going to have a wonderful life with the Smiths.

Bob and Bo - nap time

This is Truffle. She thinks she the princess. Bo loves her a lot in spite of that!

10/10/06: Beauty (Bo) and the Brat (Truffle) are great!  They are such good dogs.  Everyone who comes over falls in love with them.  We have been training them (per Caesar Milan methods) and they really are well behaved.  Bo still goes crazy over neighborhood cats invading his yard, but he is, after all a dog!

Best buds!

5/25/09: Oh, I forgot to tell you…Bo has decided he is a bird dog. We came in from church yesterday and after lunch I was going to lie down and read the paper in bed. Except there was dirt in my bed-- where I believed some dog had jumped up there with dirty paws. So I proceeded to strip the bed, changed the sheets, etc. I was talking on the phone making plans for that evenings graduation party, when something on the floor caught my eye. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that it was a dead bird!!! Bo buried his dead bird in my bed!!!! I must have flipped it on the floor when I jerked the sheets off!!

After the screaming stopped and lots of bleach later, things went back to normal. Later than day, Bo came in and looked and looked for his “treasure” which by then was buried in the outside trash!!!

I knew it was him because he “hides” every toy that he considers “his” (which is all of them because Truffle could care less) in someone’s bed. Sometimes it is in one of the guest rooms. He had a dirty nose one day and Bob did find one new toy buried outside in the leaves, but usually you can find his stuff under a pillow or a blanket…or someone’s desk.

We have a new rule. All bedroom doors close when we leave the house!!!! What a dog. Karen
