| BIG DOG
A blind, intact male sharpei was found on Augusta Rd in Greenville , SC Christmas weekend. A good Samaritan saw him almost get run over and quickly picked him up and carried him inside to his wife, saying "What do I do now?" The poor guy was terribly emaciated and quite stinky. Big Dog was taken to the emergency veterinary clinic where he was given intravenous fluids and sent home with prescription dog food to help him gain his weight back quickly. Yesterday he received a full checkup from the regular vet and we have almost all good news to report. He probably is completely blind, but his entropion does not appear to be causing him much pain; the vet believes it's mostly dry eye. He will need eyedrops twice a day for the rest of his life but that appears to be the only bad news. Pretty good, huh? He's HW Negative, received all his vaccinations yesterday, and had his ears cleaned. No sign of any ear infection, they look pretty good. He will go in for a teeth cleaning on the 17 th and afterwards, we will need to schedule an appointment to have him neutered and possibly have his entropion taken care of.
