Thunder

11/2/08: This beautiful cream horsecoat was picked up as a stray. We're calling him Thunder. He's a big boy, about 50 lbs, and we estimate his age at between 2 and 3 years. When we first got him from the shelter, he wasn't very nice. He growled at us, but only because he was afraid. Now that he's been here for a couple weeks, he's as friendly as can be because we've earned his trust. He loves kids! When my granddaughters were here a couple days ago, he was so, so happy, so obviously he had a good experience with kids in his previous life. He is a little standoffish and hard to get to know with adults at first, but he's getting better and better at meeting people.

Thunder will see the vet this week to be heartworm checked and get his vaccinations. He's scheduled to be neutered on 11/13 provided he's heartworm negative. He's probably going to need his eyes done, too, and if so, we'll do that at the same time he's neutered. He was covered in fleas when we got him and his coat doesn't look good now; but it will soon. He was wearing a very heavy brown leather collar that had irritated his neck. That is getting better already.

11/5/08: Great news! Thunder is heartworm negative and is in good health. He's 55 lbs (told you he was a big boy). We have him 'rooming' with Buffy and so far they've done fine together. After he's neutered, we'll try him with other males.

6/27/09: Thunder is doing great. He's a very friendly boy, but he is a little leery of men he doesn't know. It doesn't take him long, though, to get over that. Thunder loves going for long walks with Chloe and he and Jolie are having a big time together.

11/13/09: Another lucky day for one of our guys. No superstitions here. Thunder has been here for over a year, but now he has his own home with Traci in Rockford TN. The test is whether his new sister, Maddie, will let him live there or not. She can be not so nice sometimes. He also has a new brother, Buck, but we think he and Buck will be fine. Traci will do everything in her power to make this adoption work!
