Sam

7/11/09: We picked this little guy up today because the person who had him didn't want him. He was living only about 30 minutes from us and his vet called saying he desperately needed to get into rescue.

Sam is obviously a mixed puppy, but he's very sweet. He is almost 4 months old and will finish his vaccinations and be neutered in a couple weeks.

Sam has a gorgeous silky black coat and a spotted tongue. He's very playful, and really needs to find his own family while he's still very young.

Are you that family?

8/1/09: Sam is enjoying at least part of his new family tonight. I met Shana today while she was visiting her mother. Jason didn't get to come, so Sam hasn't met him or his new sister, Jill. I talked to Shana a while ago and she said he was having a big time with her mom's dogs. He'll get to meet the rest of the family tomorrow. I forgot to get a picture, but Shana promises to send one. We're so happy for Sam. He's such a sweet boy - loves to lay his head on your shoulder.

8/2/09: Sam sat in the back seat and slept most of the way back to my parents' house. My mom tried to get pictures of him to send to Jason, but it was too dark. Mom and Dad fell in love with him. My dad (who has a herniated disk) was on the floor playing with him. He also stretched out in the recliner with mom and took a nap. I thought I might have to wrestle him away from them. He rode up to Memphis very well. He checked out the backyard and nosed around the house for about 5 minutes before he and Jill started playing. Today has been puppies playing with naps sprinkled in.
Jason fell in love at first sight.
Sam has also brought out a little bravery in Jill. Jason's mom came over and Jill had no problems letting her pet her, instead of hiding in the bathroom. We went out into the backyard for a little while. Usually Jill does her business, then sits by the door. He got her out wandering the yard and exploring my herb garden. I knew another dog would really be good for her, but it seems like they were made to be together. I'm so glad and proud of how well they are both doing.
He did have a couple of accidents and one run in with Madi (no one got hurt, it was all talk). I'm sure he'll learn fast, the first day is always the hardest.
