This pretty girl came to us from the Columbus GA humane society where she was picked up as a stray near Ft. Benning GA. She's very sweet and gets along with other dogs after a bit. She wary of people and other dogs initially, but warms up quickly as soon as she realizes she's in a safe place.
She's obviously been a house dog because she's very well behaved inside. She's spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm preventive. Luci is house trained and crate trained. She's very vocal - growls a lot, but like they say, she's all growl and no bite. I think she must have had to play defense all the time and she just doesn't understand that she doesn't have to do that here.
Luci is a fawn brushcoat with a black muzzle. She's about 38 lbs, but needs to gain a few pounds. While she was alone on the street, she obviously didn't get enough to eat.

Luci has had entropion surgery, but not before she lost some of her vision. She's no where near blind, but she does have a little impairment. You'd never know it, though.
Luci needs a new family. Are you it???
1/13/08: Luci is still looking for her new family. She's waiting patiently (and she really likes it here), but she needs her own family.
10/12/08: This pretty girl is so laid back. She gets along with all the other dogs and loves to play mama with the puppies. Won't you think about giving her a permanent, loving home?
11/15/08: We don't know why no one has shown any interest in Lucy. She's a very laid back, easy girl. Never barks, loves lying in the sunshine and gets along with other dogs and she LOVES puppies. It's obvious she's been a mother before.

1/28/09: Luci has a new home!!! It has been so long but finally the perfect family came along for Luci. We are so happy for her.
She's in Metairie LA where it is warm and she'll get lots of time to lie in the sun, which is her favorite thing to do. Thank you, Fran, for adopting Luci.
Checkig out her new home!
4/10/09: Luci has developed a condition where she accumulates fluid excessively. This is caused by damage done by the heartworm disease. Poor Luci. She's had a really rough life, but Fran reports that she's responding well to the medication and has lost 13 lbs of fluid. She feels much better now. Here she is with her new playmate. Thanks, Fran, for taking such good care of Luci.
6/16/09: Luci is doing fine. Mostly she has good days but occasionally she gets off her food and seems complacent. We did find out that Wal-Mart fills prescription medication for pets. They also have a special list of drugs that they will fill for just $4 for a month's supply for humans & pets. God is good!! Both of Luci's meds are on the list. So I went from paying @ $50 a month at the vets office to $8 a month. You may want to share this info with anyone whose animals are on medication. Most medicines go by 2 names, original and generic, so be sure you know both names when you get the list from Wal-Mart. Happy as ever with my darling Luci! She had a bath today and behaved like a prima-donna. Fran
11/30/09: Dear Cindy & Galon, I am so sorry to inform you that my cherished Luci had to be put to sleep on Saturday, Nov. 28th. My heart is heavy as I share this news with you and the family of "Pei" lovers. She had another bout with the retention of fluid but this time her heart was not strong enough for her to bounce back. She could barely lift her head and her eyes were so very tired from the stress of wanting to respond to hearing her name. Fran
All 3 vets had become very involved in her treatment and she always licked them when they were treating her. We were all crying when the decision was made by me to keep her from suffering any longer. She was such a sweetie and I will miss her forever but I have the most wonderful memories of our short time together.
I will always be grateful for all that you do. I'll be in touch soon. Fran
