2/7/2010: It took a while, but we finally found an excellent home for Julius. He boarded the transport Friday noon and arrived in New Hampshire on Saturday around 1:00. Long trip, but worth it. He was met by his new family and this is what they have to say about him:
We made it home with no problems. He is a beautiful dog. My daughter, the Vet Tech, was with us and she was very impressed with his behavior. Actually the ride home went very well and he adapted to us right away. He was a little nervous when he first came off the truck, but after we walked him a bit and then got him in my truck he settled right down. He was very alert for part of the ride, looking all around and wanting to just lick us to death (Which is OK). We had brought a nice soft bed for him for the trip and he settled down and fell asleep about half way home. He settled right in at home. We let him walk around the house and he did real well with that. I walked him around a small part of the back yard and he also was just curious about everything. Very calm dog I did not expect him to be so calm for his age.
So all is fine and I think he will settle in nicely. We already have a check-up scheduled on Tuesday. My daughter made it right away last week for him. Paul
Pictures in his new home coming soon!

2/8/2010: Hi Cindy, Julius is doing great. My wife is an American Native and we have all our pets named in that fashion so he is now OBEAH " OBI" which means Heart and Soul and in some instances mystical which he has much of. He is such a loving boy and wants to please. He adapted extremely well and I was very surprised on how well behaved he is. He asks to go out every time and has had no accidents in the house. We went out and I walked around part of the yard " Too much to walk the entire yard in the snow". I had him on the leash and then while walking I just let it go and he stayed right by my side. We then I took him out and let him run in our the field "The field is surrounded by heavy trees and acts like a fence" and he just loved it. He ran all around and when I called him he came right back. He is very eager to learn and seems to be very smart.
He is going on for a checkup today and we are also going to have him genetically tested to see what breeds he does have in him. My Daughter, who is a certified Vet Tech at our Vet Office, said he looks like he has Shepherd in his face , Body and Tail then he does have the Web feet as in a retriever and of course the attractive Extra skin around his neck with his ears of a Shar Pei.
In any case, we have not even taken pictures yet but will very soon and I will make sure you get pictures. Again he is doing absolutely great and is adapting very well. Paul
2/10/2010: Obeah is back from the Vet. My daughter was at work and they all had to meet him. They all just love him and he was so good. He does have an ear infection and Kennel Cough. They said it's not too bad and we have antibiotics for him to take. Other than that they said he is very healthy, very smart and extremely well behaved. Paul

Obeah looks happy in his new home, doesn't he?
2/13/2010: Hi Cindy, Obeah is doing much better. Not as much coughing now. The ear infection is doing wel;l he is very good about cleaning and the ear drops.
He is making us laugh, and that is a good thing. The other night we fed him and when he was done he picked up his bowl and walked around the house; then he brought it to us. He wanted more. It was just precious. The Vet told us he is still growing and will need more food and that it looks like he will be a big boy.
I work from Home for my paying job and jy office is upstairs. He was afraid of the stairs and would not come up, but the other morning my wife had to go out and I was working with my back to the door and I heard a small noise. I turned around and he was just sitting behind me watching me - so quite, just watching.. He was afraid of the stairs but after that he decided that this is no longer a problem and comes up with us at night. We also have ferrets in the house, and you should see them together. It is something that would make the biggest grouch smile. He just loves everyone.
Oh also we finally heard him Bark. Something startled him, and he was protecting the house. He ran around in the house with a very deep growl and barked several times. Very deep and kind of intimidating bark, but with that he is so gentile with all of us. I had to go with him to the door and show him there was no one around and he settled right down.
He is very loving and is loved right back. He just fits right in. He definitely has a strong will and his own traits but It is really very strange in that he has many of the same characteristics of our old Boy Spirit which at times does bring a tear to our eyes. My daughter says that Spirit is watching over us and training him. Paul

2/24/2010: Obeah is doing great. I am on travel in Texas right now so my Wife said he is looking for me and when outside he looks for my truck.
His cough is gone and his ears have cleared up. Today my Wife Luane said her Friend came over with her daughter and they tired each other out. Obeah and Angle (14) stayed outside and played in the snow. He is unbelievably fast and runs all around the yard playing catch. My Father lives with us and he has a Shitsu. That dog has to be tied up for he runs away and won’t come back. So Obeah instigates him and runs circles around him just teasing. It is really funny to watch them. He is learning more every day. He will come on command by name, will sit on Command, Stay, give paw. Roll over and he absolutely loves the belly rubs. Also we haven’t noticed it but My Daughter came over today and said he has grown. She said he is taller than he was when we brought him home. Everyone that meets him just loves him. Paul
3/17/2010: Just an update:
Obeah is doing great and is learning new things every day. He went for his Lyme Booster Last Monday and was just extremely well behaved. All of them at the Vet Office paid all kinds of attention to him. Of course it helps that My daughter works at the Vet. He is still nice and lean and as of last Monday is now weighing in at 55 lbs plus he is getting taller. He does like rides and doesn’t mind the truck but My truck is fairly high so he needs a little help getting in but after that he is just fine.
We also took him to visit my in-laws and they just fell in love with him and he was extremely well behaved. It was so funny in that my In-laws have a cat door and he really wanted to go through that door and all he could do was get his head in up to his ears. Now my mother in-law when she calls asks about Obeah first then asks how we are so he made a real impression with them.
Two of the pictures are him on my access road in the back of my House it leads to my field out back. Just near those pictures to his left side which you can’t see in these pictures I have a stream and he just loves that water. Just today he ran out to the stream and he laid in it teasing my wife. He also loves the birds and watches for the Ducks in the pond in my neighbor’s yard. So overall he is a very smart boy and doing great. Paul

8/13/2010: Just an Update on Obeah. He is doing absolutely great, is very healthy and very active. He has gotten big over the past several months. We celebrated his Birthday which is the 2nd of July that is the same day as MY Wife Luane’s Birthday. On the 2nd I bought him a new ball and he went crazy over it. Hard rubber and squeaks. He had several others and they only lasted a few hours. This one is standing up to his rough play. All we heard for most of the night was that squeaking ball. One thing we have done with that ball is that he has a great nose and we hide it and he will go and fine it. He just loves it. On the 4th we had a cook-out and he just loved all the attention that he got. A few pictures are attached. The one with the plate he had a cupcake from his birthday and before I could take the picture it was gone.. So our baby is one year old and he is doing great. Paul
