Polka (Dottie)

10/2//2010: #2 of the Watertown pups is in her permanent home, which was also her foster home. Little Miss Polka (Dottie) has been adopted by Wayne and Lori and has as playmates Jamie and Molly. This is the third adoption for them. Polka had demodectic mange really bad when we got her as you can see in the picture below, but she is rid of that and is really a beautiful girl. And what a hoot she is.

Polka will never have to worry about anything again because she's in a safe, loving place. Way to go, girl.

Dottie before and after

8/17/2010:

Hi Cindy,

Dottie’s up to 29 pounds and her coat’s looking and feeling wonderful on top.  The fur she has is positively velvety.  Her dots have short fur in them now so they’re still highly visible, but not pink.

Her legs are still pretty bare. Tonight’s dose of ivermectin will be # 39, so a skin scraping after 5 more days would be the extra two weeks Dr. Helton recommended.

Do you agree that to get the skin scraping, I should just take her to the vets that Mom & I use over in Guntersville, Drs. Laura Park and Martha Courtney?  They met her when I brought her for her DHPP and are still giggling about her name.  Dottie, of course, endeared herself to everyone there by kissing them all, including the three boys Dr. Park & her husband fostered and adopted.  Real boys, I mean – the two-legged kind.

Dottie’s due for a collar upsizing, too; the baby collar can barely come off at bathtime now.  Do you have any of the Premier brand collars in the next size?  If not, I’ll order online.

Take care,

Lori Kamus

Molly is a good sister to share her bed with her little sister.

9/14/2010: I’m so glad to hear from you – and such great news!!!!!!!!!!  Thank you so much for all your hard work!!!!!!!!!  We’ll get Polka (Dottie) spayed this week at our vet , either Thursday or Friday (only because they’re closed Wednesdays).  We call her Polka now ‘cause she and Molly were both answering to both Molly and Dottie -- and because she’s not dotty anymore.  Finances are our responsibility now that we are officially her new parents, and we think an adoption fee would be fair, too, given all you’ve done.  We’ll discuss it later; for now get yourself some well-earned rest.  Congratulations!

12/25/2010: Polka and her brother, Jamie, have had a great time playing in the snow.
