Cleopatra

2/7/2010: Cleopatra was adopted by a family in Woodbridge VA in September. They have chosen to cut all contacts with us without any explanation, so unfortunately (and against the contract requirements) we don't have any updates on this sweet girl. We can only hope and pray that she is all right.

9/3/09: Cindy-
Cleo is sleeping on a pillow near my son Ethan's feet. She is sooo tired. I think she is still recovering from the long trip she had yesterday.

After Gina left, we took Cleo to the grassy strip behind Pet Smart and gave her some water. Then we introduced her to Toby. He greeted her with a wet nose to the face. She stood very still, maybe she was wondering about all his crazy hair. Soon Ethan called for Toby to follow him on a short run across the grass (he'd been doing that for about 30 minutes before Cleo arrived). I was quite surprised to see Cleo (who was on a lease with Jane holding it) take off after Ethan easily passing Toby. Cleo seems to love kids!

On the ride back to my house, Cleo slept with her head on Jane's leg the whole way. When we got back to our house, we gave her food, walked her in the yard, then it was play time. She and Toby (who was seeing toys for the first time) played with their new toys. Cleo would even pull a toy away from him if she wanted it.

Cleo went right to sleep. Toby had lots of trouble settling, he was ready to play.

Today, she went to the dance studio for an hour, and was admired by all. It was a small crowd so I didn't think she'd be overwhelmed and she wasn't. She is a gentle soul who is a bit timid at first. I know she misses you and her liter mates, but I think she is doing well. The only time she didn't have people with her was about 10 minutes while my husband was cleaning out the car. She started crying, so he brought her outside with him while he finished the car.

We love her! Tim pronounced her a wonderful dog. Ethan has a puppy who loves to play with him. Jane has a dog who sleeps with her. So far she has not had a single accident. I think she is wonderful!
I love watching her try to jump on the sofa with a stuffed toy in her mouth.

I'll share more Cleo in her new home stories soon. Thank you so much once again for all you do.
Emily

9/10/09: Cindy- Cleo is adjusting well, such a sweet girl. She is gaining confidence everyday. Her "brother" Toby (little bear coat) is her buddy. It is so much fun to have two puppies. Cleo has more energy and needs fewer naps but Toby does his best to keep up. Toby is very comfortable and confident it seems to help Cleo. Sometimes, when he has crashed on the floor (she prefers the sofa) she'll go sit next to him if she is a little unsure.
Toby has moved to my bed but Cleo is still sleeping on my daughter's bed. She likes being close to her people. Emily
