Sasha and Hershey - Adoptions Pending

9/3/2011: Many of you remember the large group of Pei that we took in last summer from Watertown. Well, these two guys were part of that same seizure, but were adopted out through the shelter in Lebanon that we worked with. The family that adopted them is moving and are no longer able to keep them and New Leash doesn't have room for them, so we agreed to fit them in here. They are both very nice dogs. Both are black; Sasha is a horsecoat; Hershey is a brushcoat. Neither have had heartworm preventive since last December, so we'll be getting them tested on Tuesday. Pray that they're negative. Sasha definitely needs entropion surgery and Doc will check Hershey on Tuesday to see if he does, too.

Even though Sasha is the younger of the two (about 3 years old), she is definitely the more confident. Hershey, who we think is about 7 years old, takes his leads from her. Both are a little skittish right now, but Sasha will take a treat from me already and will let me pet her. Hershey is less trusting. I think, though, that with a little time, both will be very comfortable with us.

Because they are such good buddies, we are going to try to place them together. I know it will be difficult, especially since they're both black, but we're going to give it our best shot.

Check back for updates.

9/7/2011: Great news - Sasha and Hershey don't have heartworm disease!! But they both need entropion surgery and are scheduled for 9/22/2011. Then they'll be ready for their new home. Oh, and by the way, they like to dig. :-(

1/22/2012: This sweet couple is still waiting on their forever home. We've had no more digging, so that's good.

Back to adopton pageWe require that a home visit by a volunteer be done prior to adoption. The purpose of the home visit is to ensure that the information given during the adoption process is correct and that the home is the right match for the dog being adopted. The home visit also gives adopters a chance to ask questions about the adoption process.

Because we think it is very important to place these two guys together, the adoption fee for Sasha and Hershey is negotiable.

If you have trouble filling out our application, please let us know and we will be happy to provide you with an application via email.
