Sampson - Adoption Pending

6/19/2010: Sampson is confused. Confused because he doesn't understand where he is and confused about where his owner is. You see, Sampson's owner died suddenly. He's having a hard time adjusting.

Sampson is a two-year old fawn horsecoat neutered male. His coat is suffereing from the stress he's been under, but we're working to get that into better shape. Sampson is a good eater and now that he is eating a good quality food and on antibiotics to clear up the skin infection, he'll be much better soon.

Sampson is skittish, of course, because of his confusion. We are working on that also. Sampson is house trained and crate trained. He's a relatively quiet boy, not barking much. His vaccinations are current, he's been neutered and he's on heartworm preventive. Sampson needs lower lid entropion and will have that done as soon as his skin is improved and he's a little more comfortable being here.

Check back to see how Sampson is progressing.

6/30/2010: Sampson is doing a lot better. His coat has started to regrow and he's putting on some weight. He'll have his eyes fixed in a few weeks, then he'll be ready for his new home!

7/25/2010: Sampson is coming along because now he can SEE!. We also found out that he has a thyroid condition so he's on medication and is already starting to have more energy. He plays with Elvis and Zoe every chance he gets. We're still battling the yeast, but we're getting there. Sampson is such a good boy - absolutely no trouble at all.

10/11/2010: Look at me now! Sampson is doing so, so much better. He is still skittish of people, so he will need an experienced Pei owner to adopt him. He wants to trust really badly; he just has a hard time doing it. Are you the right home for Sammie?

4/21/2011: Sammie is doing very well except for the chronic ear problems that he has. Diet has helped some, but has not remedied the problem all together. He loves playing with the other dogs and is really more comfortable with them than with people. He would do best in a home where there isn't a lot of activity.

Back to adopton pageWe require that a home visit by a volunteer be done prior to adoption. The purpose of the home visit is to ensure that the information given during the adoption process is correct and that the home is the right match for the dog being adopted. The home visit also gives adopters a chance to ask questions about the adoption process.

The adoption fee for Sampson is $250, which helps to offset the cost of his medical care.

If you have trouble filling out our application, please let us know and we will be happy to provide you with an application via email or "snail" mail.
