Fenni

6/5/2010: This sweet senior doesn't deserve what has happened to her. Fenni is 8 years old and had been with her family since she was 2 months old. They turned her in to the shelter because they couldn't tend to her health issues. You see, Fenni has heartworm disease, which could have been avoided if they had just given her one pill a month as preventive. Now she must go through a very painful procedure to get rid of the worms in her heart. Before that can happen though, we need to get her skin and coat straightened out. She's smells like a corn chip right now. She has a yeasty skin infection which we are treating. She'll start to improve quickly with the right medication and a good diet.

Fenni is a very sweet dog. So far she's met Elvis, Woody, Jesse and Raven and has done fine with all of them. She was great in the car coming home and she ate her supper, which is rare for the first night in a strange place.

Fennis has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. She is a fawn horsecoat.

Check back for updates on Fenni's progress. She'll make a great companion for someone when she's healthy again.

7/25/2010: Fenni is doing great. She's had her heartworm treatment and came through the rough period with flying colors. She's gained some weight, the yeast has cleared up and her coat is beautiful. She'll be ready for her new home in a few weeks.

11/20/2010: Fenni is still waiting for her new family!

4/21/2011: What a sweet girl. Fenni is 9 years old now and doesn't do much other than eat and sleep, but she's a happy girl. She loves her Milk Bones treats, and she enjoys every meal. A quiet, slower paced home would be perefect for Fenni.

Back to adopton pageWe require that a home visit by a volunteer be done prior to adoption. The purpose of the home visit is to ensure that the information given during the adoption process is correct and that the home is the right match for the dog being adopted. The home visit also gives adopters a chance to ask questions about the adoption process.

The adoption fee for Fenni is $250, which helps to offset the cost of her medical care.
