My goodness, this is the sweetest girl you'll ever meet. Swisher loves everyone, especially children, and gets along with other dogs. Swisher is a beautiful red brushcoat female. She is 4 years old. She is house trained and walks well on a leash. She has several stuffed toys that she adores. Swisher has heartworms which we will be treating very soon, so she will not be ready for adoption until mid-March. UPDATE 4/9/05: Swisher is heartworm free and eager to get into a new home. UPDATE 10/24/05: Swisher had two bouts of Shar Pei fever - one in August and another in December. If you're not familiar with this illness, you can read about it at http://www.drjwv.com/. Other than feeling bad for 12-18 hours while she had the fever, she feels great. She's on medication that she will need to take the rest of her life. Swisher needs that special home that is willing to undertake a less than perfectly healthy dog and that is willing to love her a lot.
3/6/06: Swisher finally has a permanent home. Swish has been with us since Janaury 05 and we can't imagine why it took so long for someone to realize what a prize she is. Amanda and her mom, Valerie, have taken Swisher into their home and know how lucky they are to have Swisher be a part of their lives. Swisher made herself right at home after the long ride back to Illinois, finding the stuffed toys and playing with their two other dogs. Way to go, Swisher. Thank you, Amanda and Valerie.
Swisher and her new pal, Lady 3/27/06: Swisher did something so funny this morning, I had to share it with you! I have a tiliting mirror next to the couch that I use to put my make-up on every morning. Swish was sitting on the couch with me and I started petting her and eventually she got right in my face with her two front paws in my lap. I tilted the mirror so she could see herself and she jumped way high into the air, growled at it, and ran to the other end of the house! She's so silly. The other day I fed her and left the room so she ran after me in the middle of eating. When I looked at her, her snout was covered in yogurt. It was hilarious! She's doing so well, she fits in perfectly. So far she's learned what "want to go outside?", "want a snack?" and "want to eat?" means. She's a smart girl that catches on quickly (: Take care, Amanda.
Swish loves her stuffed animals! 4/13/06: Hi Cindy, Just wanted to let you know that we are submitting a tape of Lady and Swisher to Animal Planet's "Planet's Funniest Animals". Lady does some crazy things like going up stairs backwards and jumping over 2 feet into the air (really, really high). She also stretches her head backwards so far to look at who's behind her that her head can almost touch her back. She backs out of the kitchen where she eats, too. We can't figure that dog out. Swisher is in a lot of the video. We watched the show the other day and decided to send something in because most of the stuff on there is just dogs playing. Ours is unique (not to mention they're shar-pei) I'll let you know if I hear from them. I hope so! That will be fun! Amanda 10/3/06: Swish is doing great! She's still her silly self. I need to take some photos and send them to you. We will definitely have some at Christmas. One of our dogs is always in a santa suit so her and the other with probably be reindeer (: She has a big pillow bed next to the recliner that she loves to sleep on. Such a sweetie, we love her. Everyone comments on how friendly she is "for a Shar-Pei"....I don't think I've ever met a bad one, really. Thanks for checking in. I will get some pictures to you asap. I'll tell Swish you said hello!
Take Care,
Amanda
