Nessa is a beautiful black miniature pei. She weighs about 35 lbs. She is in excellent health – current on vaccinations, on heartworm preventive, spayed and microchipped. Nessa loves to go for long walks and, because she is in such good shape, she can walk for a very long time and never get winded.
Nessa is friendly to everyone she meets. I take her to my daughter-in-law's softball games, and Nessa wants to greet everyone, children included. She loves to ride in the car.
Nessa is good with other dogs, except at feeding time. She is protective of her food bowl. She also doesn't want other dogs getting close to her bed. All other times, she great with both males and females.
Nessa is very well behaved and is absolutely no trouble at all. She's a very sweet, loving girl.
UPDATE 6/20/05: What a lucky girl Nessa is! She is in her new home with Joel and Candace. She loves the backyard and patio, and is exploring the house room by room. We are so lucky to have found the perfect home for Nessa. She will be able to ride on the boat on the weekends and take long walks with Candace. Nessa is a very special little girl and it was hard to let her go, but we know she's in a wonderful home. Joel and Candace already love her a lot.
UPDATE 7/19/05:
Cindy,
You know that if you ever want to see her, you just say the words and we can make sure that happens I know why you miss her so much, because we can't help but love on her all the time. A moment doesn't pass, that we don't give her hugs and scratch her belly and just simply kiss her cheeks and tell her how much she means to us. Whenever we pass her in the house, whether it is going to the kitchen or just to another room, we always make a point to love on her. We are making up for lost time (not with you all of course).
Funny about the pulling, because she goes CRAZY when we take her on walks. She wants to see and smell EVERYTHING in her path. She gets so worn out from our walks then she naps all afternoon until about 5pm when she knows Joel is coming home and it is time to go out again. It is like she can't get enough of the outdoors.
Oh, I almost forgot, when we go walking at the park in the mornings, she goes crazy at the kids playing baseball. She pulls and tries her best to see what they are doing. I guess she is remembering her days at the ball park. She also jumps like a jackrabbit from place to place. She is so energetic.
She was funny the first few weeks for she wouldn't go to certain parts of the house (at the Atlanta house she wouldn't come to the back of the house and at the lakehouse she wouldn't go in the kitchen). We finally had to pick her up and carry her to these places and show her they were safe. Now, she is everywhere.
The cutest thing that she does is wake us up at 5:30am each morning sniffling like she wants us to know she is awake and we have to get up and walk her to the back door so she can go to the bathroom. Before I wake up and realize the time, she jumps on the bed and lies right next to me with her head and paws on my stomach. At times she buries her head in my arm and just "sighs" as I pet her head and give her big hugs (and kisses).
When I finally wake up and realize what is going on, I walk her downstairs, and she goes out for a minute and then is back inside, back in her bed going to sleep. The best is at the lakehouse for our bedroom is on the 3rd floor and her door to the backyard is on the 1st floor... kind of like sleep walking going from floor to floor, but it is what she wants so it is what she gets... an escort to the bathroom. We don't mind, because she is our "Nessa baby"... that is what we call her. I have coined her "my pumpkin" for some reason.
She and Joel have become great pals while I have been in DC the past three weeks, however Joel brings her with him when he picks me up at the airport on Thursday's and she goes crazy when I get in the car. Almost like she knows I am coming home.
Oh and another thing, she jumps up on the couch and sits next to Joel and me when she wants some hugs. Of course, we love it.
In a nutshell, she has already brought so much joy to our lives and it is our mission to make sure that she is the center of attention and that it is "all about Nessa". Thank you for giving her to us I just love her so much... and so does Joel.
8/30/05 Nessa continues to do very well in her new home. Here she is with her 'cousins' who are visiting from Mississippi. Doesn't she look great?
