ELI

This pretty blue boy came into rescue a real mess, but thanks to one very special foster mom, Eli is doing great and is ready to find his forever home.

Eli is a beautiful blue horsecoat. He is neutered, vaccinated, and on heartworm preventive.

Eli is good with other dogs (except at feeding time) and he's okay with older children. You see, he's a jumper! Eli is very food aggressive, probably because he was half-starved when we got him. He's learning everyday to trust, which is something he had no clue about initially.

Can you make a place for Eli in your heart and home?

This boy only gets more handsome with every day!

6/29/07: Eli is loving it in his new home in Fayetteville GA. Here's a report from his new mom, Monica, after the 1st night.

Cindy: Mr. Eli is all settled in! After exploring every inch of the house when we arrived home last night, he just made himself right at home. You would think he has lived here forever. No anxiety at all. After settling in, he wanted to play, so we spent about 45 minutes of playtime. He jumped in my lap and wanted to "wrestle." Then, he did what I call hunkering down - where he gets as low to the ground as possible and runs full speed for about 1 minute. Sluggo, my other Pei, used to do that all the time. I opened the window last night so he could smell the neighborhood. He watched intently as my neighbors where moving. Then around 6:00 this morning, my other neighbor was walking his dog and Eli started barking - he has such a deep bark. He did go into my mother's room about 4:00 a.m., and gave her a big kiss - woke her up!

He likes the backyard and has explored it as well. He is so smart. He knew immediately where the gate is. We've already taken two short walks this morning so he can "mark" his territory in the neighborhood. The only negative was last night he tried to mark three times in the house - but hasn't tried it at all today.

We already love him so much - he is such a sweetheart. Monica and Eli

And day two: Yesterday afternoon, I took him over to meet some of the neighbors - he was the perfect gentleman. Everyone has commented what a good and beautiful boy he is. We went to Petsmart to get a bed, and again, he was a good boy. Was most interested in the other dogs, but I kept him on a short lead. Several people wanted to know if he was a Shar Pei; one guy thought he was a little Neopolitan! He was friendly to everyone. When my mom got home yesterday afternoon, he barked when she came in the garage door - but immediately ran up and gave her some Eli love.

We had bad storms last night, and he did get scared. He decided instead of sleeping in his bed, it would be better to sleep with me, which was fine. He let me know when he was ready to go outside this morning. He loves to chase the vaccum cleaner. It's a big game!

He definitely doesn't like me to be too far away. I went outside briefly to get something out of the car, and he had a fit! Barking and scratching on the door. I hope this isn't separation anxiety. Tomorrow, I'm going to leave him alone for an hour or so to see how he does. I'll let you know how that goes. Monica

8/9/07: Hey Cindy, Eli continues to do well.  He is such a big ol' love puppy.  We love him so much. Here are photos from last night, and this morning in the backyard  Isn't he such a handsome young man? Monica and Eli
