DUCHESS

This is Duchess.  She is a 5-year old mini fawn horsecoat.  She has been in rescue for approximately 3 weeks and she is getting healthy.  Initially she was so anemic that we couldn't even give her vaccinations and she couldn't be spayed.  She is no longer anemic and has put on 3 pounds, so she will be spayed on Friday, June 7. After that she will be ready for adoption.  She is on heartworm prevention.

Duchess is very small, only 31.6 pounds. She is housebroken and crate trained, although she doesn't need to be crated.  She has obviously had many litters of puppies and sometimes she thinks her stuffed toy is one of her babies.  She cuddles it just like a child.

Duchess gets along very well with other dogs but is a little standoffish with people at first. Apparently, she wasn't treated very well before coming into rescue. She warms up very quickly.

Won't you give Duchess a home?  She will love you forever if you do. UPDATE 7/08/02:  Duchess is doing great.  Her coat is beautiful and she is much more confident than she was when she first came into rescue. She's a sweet girl that needs a permanent home where she will be safe and loved like she deserves. Can you provide that home?

UPDATE 11/22/02: Duchess went to her new home in Illinois last Friday. According to her new mom, Shelia, she, Pippa and Tootsie are doing great together. Congratulations, Duchess, you're a very good girl!

UPDATE 2/21/05: Duchess passed away today of cancer. Shelia misses her very badly.
