CHARLY CHAN

Prancer ~ He is such a sweet guy, very lovable and loves to cuddle. He is a such a happy boy, he even prances around instead of walking. He makes gremlin noises while eating, it's too cute. He loves to eat and play. He does not like being outdoors especially when it rains.

Prancer is great with other dogs, and I'm sure he'll do great with kids! He is crate trained and we are working on house training. He is heartworm negative, vaccinated, and will be neutered and have entropion surgery as soon as he gains weight, hope fully in a few weeks. His coat is in bad shape, but we are working on getting it shiny and healthy with a good diet and lots of oils.

Prancer will be a great pet for someone who will give him lots of love!

12/2/06: It sure didn't take long for this beautiful boy to find a forever home. Charly Chan (formerly Prancer) had entropion surgery and was neutered on Thursday and went to his new home on Saturday. Earl and Rosemary couldn't wait to have him in their home. They lost their Bruno a few months back and they and their other peibies, Sara and Fanny, were very anxious to have a 'boy around the house again.' Charly is already putting on weight and will look much better when his hair grows back and the stitches are out of his eyes and the hair grows back there, too. He looks funny with the hair shaved, don't you think?

12/13/06: Charly is thriving and he and Sara are getting to be the best of Buddy's. Course, they get a little rough at times with their puppy play and sometimes it's Sara getting too rough and at others it's Charly. He's just a big ol' puppy!~! He weighs in at 46# today. He's as gentle about taking food from your hand as Bruno was. Rosemary said she sees so much of Bruno in him, his sweet disposition is the first thing that comes to mind. He loves that Peanut Butter like some love Steak!~!~! He is definitely quite an eater and to say that he LOVES food is an understatement. Charly definitely knows his name is Charly and is a typical Shar Pei in that he is also stubborn!~!~! He gets two Fish Oil (1000mg) a day and its helping his coat which is so soft and definitely growing in. He DOES love attention and will come and stand by you till he's petted!~! Will see this weekend how he likes a bath!~!~! He also is quite the snorer and loves cold water (Bruno loved his cold water). He also loves to chew, so to keep him from chewing what he's NOT supposed to chew, he gets chew bones. A Frog we've had for years that "Ribbits" when you pass by. It is now deceased thanks to Charly, deceased with one eye missing and no nose!~!

He's an absolute sweetie, just a big ol' puppy and we don't anticipate any change except him to get mellow and NOT chew as much!~!

10/4/07: Charly has filled out nicely and is a solid boy. NOT overweight, he's a good weight for his size. He came to us at @ 39# and now weighs in at 52# and holding!~! Except for some white on his belly region which is typically not much but fuzz there anyway, here he is in typical laid-back "resting" mode on the futon in my Computer Room ..... Any other light areas is just wrinkles. His back end and back are great as is underneath his chin which was bald as well. His hair is super soft and currently @ 1/2 to 5/8" in length. He's not really "plush" as some brushcoats are and don't think he ever will be, but his coat is wonderful to feel and look at.  We use Nutro All Natural Lamb and Rice and will be adding some Nutro All Natural Herring, Rice & Potatoe upon availability to our area at Petco in hope of helping more. Charly has also tolerated a bath really well and nail trim isn't even an issue with him. Mostly, except for P.O.'ing Fanny by 90 mph in the house, he's laidback for the most part. I think he does that to get Fanny's goat!~!  All our clan is doing great on the Nutro as well. Although its shedding time right now (Max, a Brushcoat & Fanny, a very short Horsecoat, our oldest ones seem to be shedding the most). Charly is hardly shedding at all though!~! Sara not much either.
 Charly is a very loving dog, even to strangers and still loves to eat and make those noises!~! He still prances when he walks as well.  Thought y'all would like to know about this boy. He's definitely a sweetie. --Earl
