LU
(now Sable)
Are you looking for a luv bug??? This little girl can fill the bill!!!
8/12/07: Lulu first came to our attention on July 2nd. We were called by a good Samaritan about a stray Shar-Pei in Gwinnett, Georgia. Tim and Jane hunted for her for two days, left her food and water, {which she ate} but they never did find her. We were all so afraid she had been hit by a car and that we would never see her again. Late at night on August 2nd, Jane was looking through all the area animal controls websites and saw a Shar-Pei at Gwinnett Animal Control. She was due for adoption or euthanasia on August 3rd. Jane called them early on the 3rd and made arrangements to pick her up.
Lu is quiet, sweet, skinny girl. The more Jane looked at her in the flesh, the more she thought she had seen her before, though she looked a little different. She got on the computer and started comparing pictures. Lu had the same "crinkles" in her left ear and the same markings on her leg, as the stray for whom we had been looking. She had been "on the lamb" for at least 3 weeks before she was caught.
Lulu is a sweet, sable horse coat - about 3 years old. She likes to play but most of all she likes to be loved. She walks on a leash well, knows what the word NO means. She is a quick learner and will be easy to train. Lulu is house trained and crate trained. She is a smart girl being able to stay alive on the streets for so long. Lulu is up to date on her shots and is on heartworm preventative. She will be spayed on 8/23, and then she will be ready for adoption.
Will you give Lulu a home where she will be loved and happy and won't have to worry about where she will sleep and get her next meal? She has a lot of love to give to the person who adopts her.
8/27/07: This little girl is so sweet and well behaved. She rarely ever barks and is content to just be around the people who love her and care for her. She will make a great family dog.
9/29/07: Well, this little girl didn't stay here long. Lu went to her new home in Nashville today. Besides Marlene to love, she'll have John, Pepper, Riley, and Savannah. Remember Lu was a street dog for at least a month. Well, she won't ever have to worry about where her next meal is coming from or where she'll be sleeping. Thanks, Marlene!
Pepper, John, Lu and Marlene
9/30/07: Hi Cindy. I introduced Savannah and Lu yesterday. They hit it off great! They have done nothing but play. They are about the same size and weight. Lu has followed me around the house while I'm doing things . She is very curious and learning her way around. She did not know what to think of the inside stairs, but after working with her for a little while, she goes right up them now. She is very loving and comes up when she wants to be petted. I'm dog sitting Pepper right now for John, so I have quite the rowdy group. They are all laying down around me, tired from playing all day. Lu has found her home where she fits in as though she has been her all along. : ) Riley ignores everyone as usual. I'm changing her name from Lu to Sable, so we will have Savannah and Sable. Marlene
1/15/08:
Hi Cindy, Thanks for sending this to me! I enjoyed reading it. I have a funny story about Sable over the Christmas holidays. She and Savannah are constantly playing with each other. However, after one day, I noticed Sable was limping on her left hind leg. There was no bruising or swelling, so I made her rest it for a couple of days. After two days she would not put weight on it, so I called the vet to see if we could get in to be seen. This was on Christmas eve. They told me to bring her and they would work her in. I did not think they would be busy on Christmas eve, but the waiting room was full! I carried Sable in and she immediately started shaking. She reminded me of Bonnie when she did this. I kept talking to her and petting her while we waited. She had to stand or lay down because of her leg. She could not sit. Finally she laid down then started this growling whine sound. I was trying to figure out what was wrong with her. The vet staff just thought she was being grumpy, then I noticed if one of the other waiting dogs got close to me, she would start making the noise. She was jealous! As long as I paid only attention to her, we were okay. I guess she has adopted me. Her leg it turned out was a small tear on her knee ligament. We got some steroids and pain medicine. After about three days, she was back to her usual self. She still sits at the top of the stairs so she can look out the window and in the late afternoon she can sleep in the sun in the same spot. She gets very aggressive when the doorbell rings and wants to see who is knocking. She scares anyone who does not know her. Everyone else just pets her and comes on in.
I'm looking forward to it getting warm again so we can go on some more walks. Everyone who sees her, wants to meet her. I'll be working on Savannah with the lease too, so maybe we'll all be able to go for a walk together. Marlene
