| It's not often that we find loyal, dependable volunteers to help out with the endless, and sometimes thankless, task of rescuing animals. I am so very fortunate to have found three such volunteers. I have created this page as a very special tribute to them and their love for this breed. Celia Carter and Talia Worth adopted Moose from us in June 2003. They live in Decatur GA. Initially we kept in touch - just so I could keep track of how Moose was doing. A few months later , I was trying to get a pei out of the Fulton County shelter and needed someone to go to the shelter to adopt the dog. You see, you can't get a dog from GA unless your group is licensed through the Dept. of Agriculture there. I asked Celia and Talia if they could help and that began our close rescue relationship. Since then, they have pulled numerous dogs, not just from Fulton County but from surrounding counties. They have done shelter evaluations, dozens of home visits and also helped tremendously with transports, from South Carolina to Alabama. They adopted their second pei (Sniffles) after her adoption fell through (through no fault of Miss Sniffles). They also have a bearcoat named Taz and pit bull mix that they found by the roadside when he was just a baby. His name is Cyril. Our third valuable volunteer is Shannon Creasong. Shannon and her family live in Blountville TN (close to Johnson City). Shannon applied to adopt a pei to go along with the one she already has, but when a pei was in the shelter in Blountville and I had no room for her, Shannon said she would foster her for me. Her name was Sasha. Since then, Shannon has decided that she is needed most to foster and thank goodness for that! Johnson City is about a 5 hour drive from where we live, so to have a capable foster family in that part of the state has proven to be invaluable. Shannon has done several home visits for me, has done evaluations at the shelters around Johnson City and now she is fostering Jesse and Smoot. Because our rescue organization consists only of my husband and me, we were limited on what we could do on the rescue front; but because Celia, Talia, and Shannon have helped out so much, we have been able to pull, rehab, and place many, many more dogs than we would have been able to without their help. I will be eternally grateful to all three of these women. They are true examples of the meaning of the word VOLUNTEER.
