Emerson

Emerson's Ordeal - There was a homeless man (the Can Man) who spent his days going all around the East Brainerd area of Chattanooga picking up tin cans while pushing his bicycle, being followed by his dogs. In January 2001, the man was found dead in his tent. One of his dogs was protecting his body and had to be put down to get to the old man. His other dog, a pure bred Shar Pei now named Emerson, fled and later turned up on the door step of a very nice lady named Gail Schild. Gail contacted me and we made arrangements for Emmy to be fostered here. After much medical attention (heartworm treatment, neutering, teeth extractions), Emerson is healthy and pretty active for an old man. He is a very sweet dog and has decided he'd like to live with us for the rest of his days. So, now he's one of ours and we love him very much!!

2/21/02 It is with a very heavy heart that I have to write that Emmy passed away on Saturday, 2/16/02.  He had kidney failure and he only lived three weeks after he was diagnosed.  His death is very hard for us to deal with, but we know that he was happy here and we loved him very much .

Emmy, we miss you so much, but we know you are in a better place free of pain. We will never, ever forget you.
