HERBIE

12/14/07: Have you ever seen a cuter face? I don't think so. This is Herbie! Herbie was lost in the Nantahala Forest in North Carolina. He was with a little female, but she was unable to be caught.

Herbie is about 2 years old and has a wonderful temperament. He's house trained and crate trained. Herbie is neutered, on heartworm preventive and current on vaccinations.

Herbie is a little skiddish when he first meets you, but he warms up very quickly. Herbie loves other dogs must go to a home that has at least one other dog for him to play with.

If you think Herbie would fit in with your family, we'd love to have your adoption application.

1/13/08: Herbie is still looking for his new family. He loves being around other dogs and he loves people. He will make a great pet for an active family who like to do things with their dogs. Herbie loves to run and play outside in the sunshine. He's very good inside, not destructive even though he's a young lad.

5/2/08:When Herbie came to us, he could barely hear because his ears were so infected and inflamed. His ear canals were completely closed. Finally, after much testing, the correct diagnosis was reached. He was put on the correct oral antibiotic and ear drops. After eight weeks, he was finally better. Herbie has such tiny, twisting ear canals that need daily care (cleaning or cleaning/medicating). Even with this care, he still tends to get infections in them. He has some allergies that are helped with daily Temaril-P. This also helps to keep the swelling down in his ears. Herbie needs a very special home that will be committed to taking care of Herbie's ears so the pain and infection will be kept under control. Through all his ear problems, Herbie remains a sweet and loving boy. If you are the person who can commit to Herbie's needs, he will give you ever-lasting love.

We require that a home visit by a volunteer be done prior to adoption. The purpose of the home visit is to ensure that the information given during the adoption process is correct and that the home is the right match for the dog being adopted. The home visit also gives adopters a chance to ask questions about the adoption process.

The adoption fee for Herbie is $225 which helps to offset his medical expenses.

If you have trouble filling out our application, please let us know and we will be happy to provide you with an application via email.
